#HehuanMountain has been certified by the International Dark-Sky Association (#IDA) and has become the first designated International Dark Sky Park in Taiwan. It’s the third in Asia, following hot on the heels of the Yeongyang Firefly Eco Park in Korea and the Iriomote–Ishigaki National Park in Japan.
The recognition was not easy to come by. The certification from the IDA states that the Hehuan Mountain Dark-Sky Park is “a model case of cooperation between the local civilian community and governmental entities.” Indeed, certification is the fruit of the collective efforts of stargazers, residents, business operators and the local government.
But efforts to preserve the beauty of the night sky must continue. As Liu Chih-an ( 技安的星空 (劉志安)), a hardcore fan of astronomy and the founder of the #台灣星空守護聯盟Taiwan Dark-Sky Preservation Alliance, puts it, we have to preserve it for future generations.

台灣合歡山繼 韓國永陽螢火蟲保護區、日本西表石垣國家公園，成為亞洲第3個國際暗空公園。
